London Gatwick operates the world’s most efficient single runway and is the second largest airport in the UK. Uniquely, we're home to a mix of airline operators from scheduled to low-cost and charter airlines.
There are 56 airlines which currently operate regularly from Gatwick.
Over the last 60 years our airport has grown from just 186,000 passengers to 44.6 million passengers each year. We now fly to 228 destinations in 74 countries, and our long haul network has extended to 63 routes. We're also the airport with most connections to and from other UK regions.
In an open market where airlines can choose where to fly from, Gatwick has been competing successfully with other London airports to win new routes to the UK’s key trading partners, as well as leisure destinations. In 2017, we added 15 new destinations to our ever growing network from Gatwick. Our top long haul destinations are Hong Kong, Oakland (San Francisco), Capetown and Fort Lauderdale.
INFRAMERICA
Inaugurated on May 3, 1957, Brasília Airport is an important center of Brazil's connections, making it one of the main hubs in South America, carrying approximately 19 million passengers annually.
In 2012, the administration of the airport began to be performed by Inframerica Consortium. At the time, the Consortium began works of renovation and expansion trough improvements and construction of major structures. After 18 months of uninterrupted work, while maintaining the full operation of the terminal, the renovations were finished on May 2014,.
With the expansion work carried out to date, the Brasília Airport has established itself as the 3rd largest in Brazil in passenger handling with a capacity for over 25 million travelers annually. The total terminal area increased from 60,000 m² to 110,000 m² - an increase of 45% - and taxiways and runways were reformed and, together, add up to 300 000 m² today. Another important improvement was the increase of 67% in the courtyard capacity totaling 70 parking positions for aircrafts, of which 29 are equipped with boarding bridges.
The runway capacity has also increased and is now the largest in the country and can operate up to one flight per minute. Furthermore, the airfield is the only in South America to operate independent simultaneous parallel runways.
